SECOND GRADE! We all sang solo's today! The African piece KYE KYE KULE was sung in format where groups of four students at a time could echo back a small line from the song while the rest of the class presented the chorus at the end. In just a few minutes, each student had a chance to sing solo. Very strong risk taking and persistence found here. Great job Second Graders!
THIRD GRADE! New verses were improvised by student soloists that were echoed back by the entire class during our Welcome song today. Singing continued as each class practiced the Two part round BON JOUR MES AMI. Our shoe passing game was rehearsed today as we all got used to a half note rhythmic pulse guiding our hands to pick up an object - a rhythm stick - and placing it in correct time in front of the person to our right. Speaking a verse of the "shoe passing" song, each class was able to pass the sticks around the circle in an improved coordinated fashion. Could passing shoes be much farther in the future - we'll see!
All classes today were thoughtful, careful and used great energy today to sing and play!
