The SOUND HOUND song was revealed - and used in class to continue work in Rhythm and Syncopation! Since the first day of school, four measure of a melody from the popular song VIVA LA VIDA ( Click the GREEN BUTTON on the Sixth Grade page for an Orff Example of the piece! ) have been seen on the window of the music room entry door. We have studied the rhythm accompaniment OSTINATO of this song and last Friday revealed the name of the song at the doorway. In 5th grade music today, we worked to play both the OSTINATO and the four measure MELODY using our Boomwhacker tubes. In doing so we reviewed the rhythm and pitch names of the music, then worked to play the score. We also worked on our solo singing improvisation to the WELCOME SONG as we aimed to SING about favorite foods we might eat rather than SPEAK them during the 4 beat "fill in the musical blank".
We repeated the all day Kindergarten lesson from last week with the half day Kindergarten classes today who were on a field trip a week ago. Boy did they make that TEDDY BEAR TURN AROUND!
