Sixth Grade 2014 Orff Concert Setup
Here we put it all together! We write and perform an original Musical; We put on a full Orff Concert; We learn and perform songs for Graduation. Where we can include playing while singing and acting we do so! Some of our Sixth Grade work might include:
SINGING: In Class 3 part Round, in ASM 5 part ensemble; Welcome song in expanded ranges with low "Chest" voice and high "Falsetto"voice; Assessments in "CUPS" with small groups and individuals playing and singing independently with healthy voices, CONSTANT flow of tone. In Musical, independent singing is provided alongside with class singing. PLAYING Steady beat and rhythm patterns found in CUPS accompaniment; Ensembles will develop from 2 part to as many as 7 parts including singing part; Rhythm patterns from CUPS include more complicated patterns to play on various instruments while accompanying song; These include melodic pattern on Xylophone. MOVING Movement found in complicated upper body rhythm for CUPS including the meter and rhythm; Respond to musical cue of direction during ROUND; 6th Grade Musical work to Dramatize story and song; MUSIC READING: Notation in song; notation exercises; on treble staff; LISTENING Playing in time with recording; Identifying rhythm form in sections A and B phrases of CUPS Accompaniment; Identifying VERSE and CHORUS in song; Identifying melody in accompaniment; Culture in time of 1930's; CREATING Improvised verses to "news" of WELCOME song; New CUPS accompaniments for A and B phrases; BODY and INSTRUMENT accompaniments during songs sung including body movement. 6th Grade Musical lyrics to songs to tell story, add body movements; |
